Milan and Florence

After our time in Venice, we took a train down to Milan and spent the day touring that city. Milan is a much newer European city than most I've been to so far, and therefore it was not nearly as exciting as others (in my opinion). Walking the 1.5 mile main strip of shopping was cool, but almost everything was out of my budget range! Our tour guide had some interesting historical anecdotes, but most of the architecture pointed out was built since the 1950's.
The photos above and below were taken in the main Milanese square. I am not sure what the historical significance of the building above is, but I liked it because it was pink stone.
The photo below is of the Milan Duomo.
Suzie and I on a bridge over the Arno River in Florence
Padlocks placed around the statue of Benvenuto Cellini on the Ponte Vecchio. It is superstition that if you place a padlock on the fence and throw away the key your love is locked together forever. Cameron and I will need to find another romantic superstition, as a 50 Euro fine has been implemented if you are caught putting a padlock on the fence.
The above is a picture of the Ponte Vecchio and the Arno River. The Ponte Vecchio was originally where butchers sold their goods, now all the on- bridge vendors are goldsmiths. I suppose tourists are more likely to buy gold than something from a butcher...
These are pictures of the Duomo in Florence from different angles.
It is so large, it is nearly impossible to get a picture of the whole thing. The detail and beauty of the Cathedral amazes me every time I see it!
